Sucker Punch! Watch out for the fan boys!

“Sucker Punch” looks like a movie that will garner the most attention from fanboys of anime, comics, and videogames. Ummm, nerds you say?? Maybe. Do I fall into that category? Maybe. So where do I find myself making that assumption? Well, there’s a cast of young scantily clad ladies (female lead in a school girl uniform) that are equipped with ninja swords fighting off robots, samurais, and dragons! Oh, and let’s not forget that the directors of the movie also did “300″ and “Watchmen”. If that doesn’t back up my assumption, well then, I don’t know what else to say… except that the movie looks pretty bad@ss!

“Sucker Punch” cast includes Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, etc… The movie is coming out on March 25, 2011. Go see it!

a Far East Movement recollection…

Wow… I never imagined an Asian group to hit America’s mainstream scene as much as the Far East Movement. I remember listening to their mixes like 7-8 years ago from an underground Asian-American hip hop site. I followed them for awhile on myspace (when that was huge, remember?) when they finally created a profile. So in 2006-2007 when I was doing a bit of club promoting in Shanghai, I recalled this group and thought I’d throw them an opportunity to perform internationally. So I coordinated a bit with their manager at the time, and the music director at Club Guandii (one of the few hip hop clubs in Shanghai) and I tried to book them a show. Guandii was all up for it, but other clubs I was trying to get them in at didn’t know who these cats were. I couldn’t fork up the costs for them to fly over just to perform at one club, so the deal didn’t go through unfortunately. I did regret not having the capability to bring them out, but luckily was still able to collaborate with them a bit by having one of their songs featured on a reality tv show I was working with at the time (shout out to House Films). That was fun… but it would have been more fun to meet these guys since I’ve known about them for so long. I’m just glad to see them where they are now, and I’m sure the clubs back in Shanghai now know who the Far East Movement is. Keep up the good work FM!

zomg… Justin Bieber cut his hair!

I thought I’d never write about this… and this may be a bit of old news, but Mr. Biebs has gotten a haircut! I mean, this is making headlines everywhere, so I might as well throw in my 2 cents over it…

There are certain qualities celebrities have that makes them, them. I see Justin Bieber’s hair as being one of those qualities that makes him truly, him. Before it was the Bieber look, it was pretty much considered an Emo look, right?? err minus the eyeliner

Now that he’s gotten a haircut, there is no Bieber look anymore! Is there?? Cuz now he’s got an Ellen DeGeneres look.

So now, what’s what?? Is there an emo look? Or a Bieber look anymore?? Who knows, who cares.
